He’d thought he was prepared for anything, but he certainly hadn’t been ready for this. It was one thing to have to ask the Witch for help, another to catch her practicing her faith and to know that they were in a position where they had to pretty much accept the evils she practiced in the world, but what he had found was still another matter entirely. “Oh, dear God!” Castiel cried, his invisible wings fluttering. He closed his eyes as tightly as he could. “I came to ask -- “ he said, not even daring to peek.
“Fer help, dear boy, I knae,” Rowena crooned in a quite jovial tune. “Yer poor, wee Winchesters are always needin’ somethin’.”
“Finding me was a bonus, I’m sure,” Gabriel boasted, walking around Rowena’s cauldron.
“I wouldn’t call it that,” Castiel stated, finally daring to lift one eye open. He saw his brother’s bare knees and shut his eye quickly again. “Can’t you materialize some clothes or something?”
“Ha! Th’ Angel’s blushin’! Come now, Gabriel. We’ve had our fun; ‘tis time tae gi back tae workin’.”
“I was working,” Gabriel muttered, and Castiel blushed as he heard Rowena giggle and knew Gabriel had touched her again. “Unlike Old Fuddy Duddy over there, I like mixing business with pleasure.”
“Ack, so do I, but there’s a time an’ a place fer everythin’ -- “
“It’s Castiel’s own fault he’s blushing like a bride. Our Father made us to be naked after all.”
“Oh dear Lord -- “
“It’s fine; it’s fine!” Rowena said, laughing. “He’s puttin’ clothes on even now.”
Castiel dared to peek but shut his eyes even more swiftly. This time he turned as red as Rowena’s hair. “Please, for the sake of everything that is decent -- “ He could barely hear himself speak, however, for Gabriel’s and Rowena’s outrageous laughter. His wings fluttered again. “If you decide you’ll help us, you know where to find us,” he snapped, popping out of there as fast as he could and back to the States.
Dean and Sam instantly looked up upon his arrival. “Did you find her?” Sam asked pensively.
“Oh, he found her all right,” Dean replied with a smirk, “and I’m betting from the look on his face, he found Gabriel too.”
“Indeed.” Castiel let out a withering sigh.
Dean watched him for a moment as Sam made a face. “Dude,” he finally exclaimed, “that’s fugly!”
“You have no idea,” Castiel said with a shudder. “Allow me to reassure you that that phrase has never been used more aptly.” He sank into a chair and was holding his head in his hands, trying to forget what he’d seen, when Gabriel appeared with Rowena in his arms. Thankfully they were both dressed.
“Now what would ye tae be needin’ me help wit’ this time?” Rowena asked.
Castiel held up a hand before anyone else could speak. “We will accept your help,” he said, “on one condition.”
Rowena frowned as she eyed him warily. “What would that be?”
“That this time,” he said, wings fluttering yet again, “you do not mix business with pleasure.”
“Done,” she agreed, winking at Sam.
Gabriel sighed. “Dude,” he exclaimed, “you know how to take the fun out of everything!”
“This isn’t meant,” Castiel returned, “to be fun, Gabriel,” but he smiled. After what he’d seen, he knew Gabriel would follow Rowena anywhere right now, and with those two on their side, they were sure to win.
