She stood as still as a statue in the moonlight, her mind calculating the odds and her trigger finger itching. She glanced at the man who stood beside her, waiting for her signal to blaze into battle beside her. Her mind flashed back onto the conversation she’d endured earlier.
Copycat had reminded her yet again that Cable, even as a telepath, had not loved her enough to know the difference between her and Vanessa when the other woman had taken her life for an entire year. It bothered her when she allowed herself to think about it, but right now, she could see the truth as clear as her pale skin was white. Nathan loved her. He didn’t talk about his feelings. It was true he hadn’t known that Vanessa had replaced her for a while, for too damn long really, but that just showed again that he trusted her. He didn’t feel a need to use his telepathy on her ever, just like she didn’t feel a need to doubt him.
They moved wordlessly together through the moonlight and the ensuing battle. Dom didn’t need Cable to tell her he loved her; he showed her with his every action.
