He had lost several of his gold teeth in the battle earlier that day, but that scarcely mattered now. All that mattered was that he had the man he loved back beside him, and even he could still feel Will’s exhaustion as his body nearly melted into Jack’s, and felt nearly as weary himself, it had all been worth it. He turned the Pearl toward the setting sun and gave the wheel an extra spin. There was finally something that mattered more to him than his cherished ship. He’d almost lost them both today, and had been willing to sacrifice the one to regain the other, but now he had them both and was sailing free.
“We have our heading,” he whispered, pulling Will more tightly against him. They’d retire to his cabin soon enough, but for now, in front of his crew, Gibbs, the Pearl, and all the whole, wide world, Jack kissed that which mattered the most to him. It was no longer the Pearl nor gold nor even his own foolish pride. It was the man beside him, the wonderful, beautiful man who had agreed this day to stay with him forever. He’d never felt more at home or fulfilled even out here on the seas at the Pearl’s helm than he did in this very moment with Will.
Aye, they had their heading, and theirs was going to be a beautiful future! He all but crushed Will to him as he kissed him hungrily, deeply, and passionately -- and all trying to fill him as Will had already fulfilled him. They had their heading, and the rest of the world could be filled with gold. Jack didn’t care. He just cared that he had his Will, and he was never going to let go of him again!
