He should be heading to his own estate, but he’s not. Going there isn’t the reason why he’s tightly clenching his steering wheel in anticipation despite having his roof down and music blasting. It’s not the reason he’s driven the two hour trip in little less than an hour or the reason he’s come back at all.
He speeds down the country, dirt road, ignoring the looks of the farmers and their children as he zooms along. He only has one person on his mind, and when his tires screech, signaling his arrival at the Kent farm, that person is quickly heading to meet him. He’s already grinning, his handsome face beaming brighter than the morning sun, as Lex steps out of his convertible.
The two look at each other. As Lex tries to come up with an excuse that doesn’t sound completely fumbled as to why he’s come here first, Clark just closes the distance between them and wraps his strong arms tightly around his most treasured friend and secret love. Returning his embrace, Lex him against him, breathes in all that is Clark Kent, and sighs for he is content, happy, safe, whole, home, and loved at last.
