Xander turned, paced a few more feet, and checked his watch yet again. He was accustomed to waiting on women, especially when they were shopping, as he’d been friends with Willow and Buffy for years before meeting his fiancee. Anya’s love of money, however, kept her from being a typical female shopper. She normally wanted to spend as little as possible and get out as soon as possible before the “Gods of Retail” could wrangle more bills from her tightly clenched hands. Yet she had now been in their local WalMart for over a hour and still had not emerged.
“You don’t understand!”
Xander’s head lifted as he heard his beloved’s voice crying out a dismal plea. His eyes widened as he saw two cops dragging Anya between them.
“You don’t understand! You have to understand! Those aren’t normal slippers!”
“No, ma’am,” one cop, obviously trying not to laugh, agreed, “they’re bunny slippers.”
“Flesh eating bunny slippers! They have to be stopped!”
Xander turned as the cops dragged Anya pass him, hiding his face behind his hand.
“Xander! Xander, tell them!”
He shook his head but followed behind them. Good Lord, this was going to take some explaining!
