Dean’s eyebrows raise as Charlie finally returns to the Impala, her skin a little flushed, her breathing just a hinge labored, and a bruise sticking up out of the neck of her sweater. “Why do I have the feeling,” he asks, “you got everything you wanted in that coffee shop except for the coffee?” He glances at her empty hands.
Charlie follows his gaze down to her hands and blushes as red as her hair, but when she raises her gaze back to his, she’s grinning. “Oops. I’ll go back and get it.”
“No,” he says, impatiently gunning Baby’s motor, “you won’t. I’m not waiting another hour just for you to come back empty handed again.”
“I won’t forget it this time!”
“No, but you’ll forget the pie and that’s worse!”
“You and your pie! But you should have seen those waitresses, Dean! Especially, with your love of pie, that coconut pie that the one had made on the table and what she could do with scoops of it -- “
Muttering, “Fine, fine,” and hiding his grin, Dean kills the motor. “We can go get the pie.”
“We don’t have to,” Charlie says, grinning, but she’s already out of the car.
