I wish I could quit you, Kenzi thinks again, glancing sideways at Bo as they drive toward their latest suicide mission. She truly does wish she could quit her, that she could just walk away from all this craziness with the Fae that’s constantly threatening to get them killed or worse, but she’s never had anyone like Bo, and not just because of the whole succubus thing.
She’s never known anyone as brave, as strong, as beautiful inside and out. She’s never had a true friend like Bo, never had family who cared so much for her. This chick is the thing of legends, the downtrodden who really care, the heroine who fights for her people, and Kenzi knows she’s lucky to be one of those people.
Bo will never see her the way Kenzi admires her, but Kenzi can’t help admiring her in all ways. She can’t help seeing what’s right in front of her, rather that’s the beauty, the craziness, or the courage that surpasses anything she’s ever seen before in all her life -- and makes her want to do crazy things too.
Bo turns to her suddenly. “We’re here, Kenz,” she says.
“Huh?” Kenzi asks, blinking in confusion.
“We’re here,” Bo repeats, indicating their destination with a nod of her beautiful, dark head.
Kenzi smiles. They are at their destination, but she’s already been at her destination. Her whole life, she’s been destined to meet this one woman, and now that she’s got her in her life, she’s never going to let her go, even if her undaunting courage has her nerves constantly on fire, even if she gets them killed. If she does get them killed, Kenzi will just have to come back as a ghost and haunt her. This is what her whole life’s been leading up to, and she’s not about to let Bo go for anything.
