“Well, this is awkward -- “
Kimberly looks up from kissing Trini to see her former friends from school surrounding them. They’re all smirking. Looking back at Trini, she sees how her dearest friend tucks her head and witnesses the unspoken fear in her eyes. Trini lets go of her. Kimberly understands she’s freeing her, giving her a chance to make up an excuse, to make this look like it’s anything but what it is . . .
She lifts her head. “Why? Because you wish your boyfriend was half a good a kisser as my girlfriend is?” She smirks as several mouths drop soundlessly open.
“Freak,” somebody mutters.
Kimberly just tosses her head, tightens her hold, and returns to kissing Trini. She may be a freak, but she’s a happy freak. She’s a freak who has exactly what, or who, she wants, has never been more in love in her life, and the same freak who keeps saving these townie’s asses every week.
Trini waits until the others are gone before breaking their kiss. “You didn’t have to do that.”
Kim smiles at her. “I wanted to,” she says and keeps on kissing her. She knows they’ve both never been happier in their lives.
