“They’re my favorite toys,” Crowley says evenly. “I want you to leave them alone.”
The Trickster smiles at him, and the King of Hell feels ice slide down his spine. “How sweet. You know what they say about favorite toys, though, don’t you?” Crowley silently narrows his eyes at him. “They’re only the favorites until they break.”
“Why, you -- “ With a shrill of laughter, Gabriel disappears, leaving Crowley’s fist to smack empty, hot air.
“BALLS!” he hears trumpeted behind him. Crowley whirls to see Bobby glaring at him. “You just had to go there, didn’t you?! You couldn’t leave good enough alone!”
“What?” Crowley asks, and then his face falls as he sees what lays in the floor between him and the old man -- or, rather, who. “He’ll pay for this!” he cries.
Bobby snorts. “All the King’s horses and all the King’s men couldn’t put Humpty Dumpty back together again.”
“Dean isn’t Humpty Dumpty!”
“No, but he is a damn doll thanks to you!”
Bobby falls silent as he witnesses the tenderness with which Crowley lifts the now-wooden Dean. Eyes made of glass stare at Bobby and Crowley. “GABRIEL, YOU’LL PAY FOR THIS!” Crowley howls. All of Hell shakes.
