He stands in the shadows and looks up at the sun, smiling. This girl makes him feel the impossible! She makes him feel like he can do anything! She makes him feel like he can really shape the future, like he can rewrite himself as a new man, the man he wants to be rather than the Vampire into which he’s been molded over the centuries. She makes him feel like everything, the whole bloody world, is within reach of his grasp, like he just has to reach out and do it. She makes him feel like he can step out into that bright, forbidden sun and not be fried alive.
Buffy clears her throat, gently bringing Spike’s eyes back to her. She smiles up at him, and he feels that wave of strength and inspiration, of love, again. He can do anything! She reaches out to him, holds out her hand to him, and he takes it without hesitation. Maybe he can do anything -- or almost anything, because the logical part of his mind knows that sun will eat him alive --, but what he chooses to do is to follow her.
Buffy steps further into the shadows, leading him away from the sun, and he goes willingly. He doesn’t look back; he only eyes for her. He can do anything, but what he wants to do, more than absolutely anything else now, is to give her whatever she desires from him. He’s a changed man, but he’s still love’s bitch. But unlike all the other women he’s ever thought he loved, he truly loves Buffy and she him. This time, it’s an honor to be love’s bitch.
