"That was too close," B says, appearing on Faith's left through the swirl of the dust raining down from the last Vampire who'd almost managed to get the jump on her. Almost, but Faith's good at what she does. She timed him just right to turn from killing his buddy to kill him -- and got a worried lover as an extra special boost.
She smirks at Buffy. "Aw," she teases. "Don't tell me you were worried."
"Don't tease me, F," B returns mockingly as they both spin and stab two more Vamps with their stakes.
"When are these suckers gonna run out?" Faith questions, turning from one to stab another.
"You were the one who wanted to take the fight to them!"
"Always!" Faith remarks, kicking one Vampire away from her and stabbing another before stabbing him. The fight is fast and furious, but soon enough, their enemies are all either dust or running for their lives. She knows she should chase after them, stop them from coming back another day, but she's burning inside with an altogether different need.
She's debating what she should do when she feels a hand on her shoulder. Her body tenses but then relaxes at the familiar touch. She turns, and her eyes meet Buffy's beautiful green orbs, widened with her concern. "Too damn close," she tells her. "Don't do that to me."
"What -- " Faith starts to retort, but her smirk never comes to conclusion as Buffy's mouth slams down on hers. Her tongue dives into her mouth, and it's Buffy who makes the little sound of satisfaction and need as Faith kisses her back.
She knows what her fellow Slayer was going to say. Don't die on me. Don't leave me like that. It's something they both think too often, but something they don't need to say. She hears it in the little sounds of need and want escaping Buffy's mouth. She feels it in her desperately grasping fingers, in the hunger of her kiss, in the never-ending burn searing between them.
Don't leave me, she cries out with every motion, every kiss, every caress, and Faith answers just as passionately. Don't worry, B. I won't leave you, and I'll never let you go either. They're two of the same, and no force of Hell or Heaven will ever part them. If she was going to let her go, she would have long ago when Buffy chased her down and turned against her for killing a man, but she didn't. This girl is the reason she lives, the reason she sought redemption, the reason she's back now and still fighting the good fight, and most of all, the reason she'll never stop fighting, fucking, and loving every moment of her life as a Slayer.
