Prue's eyes flash open as she senses a change in the air currents surrounding her room. Phoebe tenses in her arms. Her eyes seem extra large and almost innocent, something her provocative, youngest sister hasn't been in years,as she looks up at Prue. "Uh oh!" she hisses. "We didn't shut the door."
Prue considers what's about to happen but then simply strokes Phoebe's bare back. "It's all right," she whispers back with a teasing smile. "It's not like we have to hide from Grams any more."
"Oh my!" Piper exclaims.
"Uh oh!" Phoebe says again.
"It's all right," Prue repeats, smoothing soothing circles onto her back from her palm. Louder, she says, "Sorry, Piper. We forgot to lock the door."
Piper stares at them. Phoebe can't bear to look, but Prue keeps her younger sister's gaze smoothly. She even smiles at her. "I . . . I guess . . . " Piper says slowly after several, long minutes have passed, " . . . you two don't need my interference after all."
"Nope." Prue flashes her a wide, dazzling grin. "We've got everything worked out."
"I see that," Piper mutters, but then she shrugs and smiles openly at them both. "Whatever makes you happy. Just shut the door next time, okay?" She turns and starts to walk away but calls back over her shoulder, "I'll start dinner."
"See?" Prue asks, looking down at Phoebe. "She always wanted us to be happy with each other."
Phoebe crinkles her nose as she leans up over her big sister. "I think it's a safe bet to say we'll be happy for a while."
"I don't know about a while," Prue returns, her smile taking on a teasing twist. "It depends on when you let my car run out of gas again."
"If every argument we had over your car led to this, I'd fight with you every day." Phoebe grins and kisses her.
