He knew he'd find the eggs but hadn't quite expected him to open them all so quickly. He watches his feline lover writhing on the ground, rolling in the green herb, and kneading the grass beneath his paws. Puss' eyes are glazing over as he looks up at Donkey, but there's still something vaguely haunting them.
"I never thought I'd enjoy this holiday again." Donkey sees the way his fur flinches with his shiver. He wonders what the story behind Puss and eggs is, but it's his lover's story to tell when he's ready. Puss' grin broadens. "But you make me enjoy everything, mi amor! Come! Join me!"
"Catnip doesn't exactly -- " Donkey starts but stops when he sees the new Easter egg Puss lifts.
Puss bats the egg at him. "I've got another one," he purrs, "filled with jelly beans that taste like waffles."
"Why didn't you say so?" Donkey snatches up the chocolate Puss drops from his egg and eagerly devours it. He can't wait to taste the new jelly beans, but he already knows: Each egg may have its own hidden treasure, but his greatest treasure lays in the grass, not the egg. Puss purrs as Donkey licks him.
