Flowers and birds sing all around her. The grass is fresh and cool beneath her bare feet. The sky is an endless, cloudless blue, which once would have felt full of possibilities but now doesn't even call to her. She could take to the air, fly away, leave this place far behind her, but she cannot leave her troubles. The problems that keep her to this piece of land are as rooted in her soul as the stately trees' own roots are dug deep into the tender earth.
She can fly, but she cannot fly away. The Earth may be alive and well, but her heart no longer thrives with it. She has not felt this barren or this empty since the first time she returned to Earth after being gone to space for far too long. She did not feel this empty even after losing her powers.
Spring weather sings of promise, but her own heart feels only sorrow. "Logan," she whispers. His name resounds in the breezes whipping through the tops of the trees but brings him no closer to her. She weeps for as long as she doesn't have him, she might as well be grounded herself.
