"So a little crusader told me you went to church with Clark yesterday," Chloe says, falling into step beside Lex.
"You say that like you think I've never been to church before, Miss Sullivan."
She shrugs. "I just figured, with the Devil not liking holy ground, you hadn't really had much opportunity before to go, or reason."
"Clark is always a good reason, but church is also a good place to make connections."
"Hmp," Chloe returns, not wanting to secede his point. "Did you enjoy it?" she asks after a moment.
Lex pauses. He could tell the girl the truth -- that he enjoys any time spent with Clark doing anything --, but if he does, it will surely hit the front page of the Talon's next issue. He grins, his blue eyes sparkling. "It was a religious experience," he admits, remembering when he first saw Clark in his finest suit yesterday morning.
What the Kents wore to their church's Easter service was nothing compared to most of Lex's everyday suits, but nobody filled out a suit like Clark. And the way the boy had smiled at him had made him practically shine in Lex's eyes. He can recall very little of the actual sermon in fact, because he was too busy watching Clark. He shined so brilliantly yesterday that Lex could practically hear the Angels singing every time he looked at him.
"A religious experience, huh?" Chloe asks, jotting down a note. "Mind if I quote you on that?"
"Do as you will, Miss Sullivan." Lex chuckles. "You will any way."
"True." She grins, but Lex doesn't even look at her. He's too busy remembering his time with Clark yesterday and the fact that he's headed to his side again. Quickening his pace, he swiftly leaves Chloe and her little paper behind.
