Kitty groans as the elevator comes to a sudden, screeching halt. "Great!" she moans, throwing up her hands in frustration. "Just great! Come shopping, you said! Forget about everything for a while, you said!" She cuts dangerous eyes at her girlfriend. "For somebody from such a dark future, Ray, you certainly get us into enough trouble with your desire to party!"
"I wasn't talking about partying, Kitty," Rachel softly defends herself. "All I said was we needed to blow off some steam and should come shopping for a while."
"Well, the shopping trip's over," Kitty says, turning to the metallic side of the elevator and holding out her hand. "What are you waiting for?" she asks when Rachel doesn't take her hand. "You want to spend hours in this stuffy thing?"
"Do you want half of New York to see us, Kitty? This is only the busiest mall in the state!"
Kitty turns back around with another groan and folds her arms before her chest. "Fine. You got us into this mess, you get us out."
"For a girl your age," Rachel teases, advancing on her and using her own words against her, "you certainly can be a stick in the mud." She runs her hands over Kitty's tense arms, then leans down and kisses her gently. Slowly, she adds fire to their kiss, her tongue taking its time to pry apart Kitty's stubborn lips and teeth.
She slips her hands underneath Kitty's blouse, strokes her stomach with her palms, and builds the fire between them as her prying fingers find her breasts. Soon, Kitty's groaning for an altogether different reason. Rachel smiles against her mouth, choosing to let Kitty's gripe from earlier slide by. She is from a dark future, but that's exactly why she knows how important it is to take their time and find Heaven where they can get it in the present.
