The sisters cackle disconcertingly as they circle the spinning wheel. "This isn't right," says the oldest by a few seconds.
"Let me see," the second says, grabbing their shared eyeball from the first and looking through it. "No, no," she agrees, clucking, "not right at all!"
"My turn!" declares the third. Looking through the eyeball, she examines the two threads. "I don't know what you two are going on about. All we need to do is separate them." She takes the two threads in her long, bony fingers, but no matter how hard she tries to untangle them, they only become more twisted around each other.
Sudden laughter makes all three Fates look up at the intruder into their home. "It is a fool who laughs at fate."
"Oh, come on!" Aphrodite laughs again. "Just because I'm smart enough to laugh at you three doesn't mean I'm a fool!" Perching one hand on Her hip, she demands, "Besides, you're really going to call the Daughter of Zeus, and the Goddess of Love, a fool?"
"If the eyeball fits," says one.
Another slaps the one who speaks. "That's supposed to be if the shoe fits, you ninny!"
"Well, if the shoe fits -- "
"But we don't wear shoes!" the third complains.
Aphrodite rolls Her eyes. "You three are more fun than a town of virgins, but how about this? Why don't you three hush and let Me tell you why those threads are entwined like that?"
"You could not possibly know something we do not about these threads!"
The Goddess' eyes sparkle. "Wanna bet?" She asks, stepping closer. Pointing at the threads, She declares, "Those belong to Xena and Gabrielle. I'm going to bet the darker one is Xena's. But, you see, the thing is you can't separate those threads."
"Nonsense! All life is ours to thread as we choose!"
"Go away, silly Goddess! You don't know what You're talking about!"
"Honey, if there's one thing I know, it's entwined lives, entwined hearts, and entwined threads. I'm telling you those threads will always be entwined, no matter what you do, because never have two people loved each other more than those two. I broke the mold when I put them together."
But the Fates insist on waving Her away. She goes only to return to them at the end of the threads. "You see?" She says. "Still entwined. What I put together, no man, or Fate, can part! It will stay entwined forever, and now those two will be entwined throughout eternity!" Glowing gleefully, She sparkles away from the Fates and returns to Xena and Gabrielle where She proceeds to show them the threads of eternal life.
