1. BRICK HOUSE by THE COMMODORES
She knows she got everything
That a woman needs to get a man, yeah, yeah
How can she lose with the stuff she use
This very much describes early Faith, when she's first introduced to the series, to a tee. She knows she's powerful, both as a woman and as a Slayer, and fully believes there's nothing, and no one, that can stop her.
2. STANDING IN MY WAY by DEBBIE HARRY
Too many people tell me what to do, what to think and say
Now it's time for me to do what I want
You better get out of my way
I'm moving out getting out of here
This is a powerful song about a strong woman moving everybody and everything out of her way. She lets nothing stand in between her and what she wants: again, Faith to a tee as she breaks free from her ties to Buffy and the gang to stand where she thinks is the winning side.
3. BRING ME TO LIFE by EVANESCENCE
How can you see into my eyes, like open doors
Leading you down into my core
Where I've become so numb, without a soul
My spirit's sleeping somewhere cold
Until you find it there and lead it back home
Despite her bravado, Faith becomes broken by the human life she took. She's broken inside and lashing out in blind anger against this world. Deep down inside, she wants to die. She wants to be beaten, to be stopped for what she's done. Only Angel sees this. It takes him fighting Buffy off of her, protecting Faith from his girlfriend, and protecting Faith from herself as well in order for Faith to finally succumb to what she's feeling and begin the healing process that he himself already went through so long ago.
4. DEFEAT YOU by SMASH MOUTH
And when you're down you've got something up your sleeve
And you've got it good as bad as it gets
You make your own incisions that come with regrets
You're in it to win it and make every minute count
Faith does what she thinks is right and spends time in a jail where the wardens would never be able to keep her unless she chose to allow them. This is proven when Angel needs her help, and she calmly, swiftly, immediately breaks free. She chooses to stay out of jail, because she's needed, but this time, she stays on the side of good. As before, she won't let anybody or anything stop her, but this time, she's on the right side. Her experiences also help her along the way not only to assist Buffy and Angel but to guide the new Slayers away from the darkness that's already pulled her under once.
